I haven't built a PC since Pentium III days so I'd just like a sanity check of what I've specced please. I think from research on this forum and the net everything should work together.

The Q6600 seems to clock pretty reliably over 3Ghz? Otherwise I might consider a E6850 as they are pretty much the same price.

I was thinking of Vista 64 for the OS, I assume it is OK for any new software and recent hardware?

stick with the Q6600, but go for the OEM version being as you're getting the Tuniq cooler.

have a look at the OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK) memory.

might also be worth looking at the BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC2 512MB GDDR3 instead of the GTX, save £100 ish and not much difference speed wise.

Thanks for the advice, I've changed the memory and CPU as you suggested.

Is there any idea how long it will be before the 8800 GT cards are released, they are all showing as preorder at the moment. I don't mind waiting a week or so but I want to play CoD4 on a decent PC!

They are already released just difficult to get hold of, there is supply shortage & what ones do get stocked, are sold very very quickly.
