New pc build boot then shutdown?!

Hi guys, recently purchased a few bits on here to build a pc, parts came today and i built it all up, turned it on, hey presto!, for all of 10 seconds then the pc turns off then attempts to start again? any help on this would be much appreceated!

on a side note, i checked the stock cpu fan and noticed it doesnt come with a lot of heat compound, could this be part / all of the problem?

Can you list all the parts so there is less guessing involved.

if it was not enough compound the PC would shut down due to getting to hot and not restart

what parts did you buy and what your pc spec?

its the pc you specced for me a week or so ago stu

got it working now, went out and bought some antec compound just to ease my mind, so mustve been a heat issue

. installing windows now!
