New PC build budget £1500-£1700

Get yourself on partalert on Twitter and try to get hold of a GPU first as that’s the hard bit.

Depends on what your playing but try and get a founders edition Nvidia card (3070 or 3080) is probably your best bet.
Gives you plenty of budget for the other components

As a potential build

Nvidia 3080 - £650
MSI x570 tomohawk - £200
Ryzen 5600x - £260
PSU - £150 - 750w +
Ram - £140 16gb 3600mhz
Storage - £150 (SSD for boot drive and mechanical for games)

total £1550

£150 left for a case and some RGBness

Agree, but would not suggest HDD for games. Those loadtimes would not be fun. Might as well go for 1TB m.2 or SATA SSD

Indeed load times can be slower but if budget is a concern then mechanical drives are where its safe to cut costs. Wouldn’t cut costs on CPU,GPU or MOBO. With drives you can always add another at a later date move the games over then reuse the mech drive for overflow media storage

That's true, this will really depend on what the guy needs in terms of storage. i would hands down get a m.2 500gb+ for that budget as I store most of my stuff on the NAS.

Alright guys, I’m after a recommendation, new to pc builds, have a budget of 1500-1700 and primarily for gaming and want a nice case with colourful fans.
My basket at Overclockers UK:
  • 1 x OcUK Gaming Enigma Enthusiast - Ryzen 7 3700X, GeForce RTX 3070 = £1,633.97
    • Memory:Team Group Vulcan Z T-Force 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit - Grey
    • Operating System:Unwanted
    • Security Software:Unwanted
    • Solid State Drive 2:Unwanted
    • Graphics Card:*Build Stock* Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming OC 8GB GDDR6 Graphics Card
    • Case:Kolink Nimbus RGB Midi Tower Case - Black
    • Solid State Drive:WD Blue 500GB 3D NAND SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive (WDS500G2B0A)
    • WIFI:Unwanted

Note that it will break the budget if you want to add the OS in ontop. Although not directly shown, I've had the case changed for the one with the RGB front panel.

That Kolink garbage PSU is completely substandard for the budget.

Also none of Gigabyte B450 boards has good CPU VRM.
In gaming newer architecture 5600X beats that 2019 architecture CPU.
Half TB SSD filling from two big games is small for such budget.
