Hello,

My friend is building a new PC, and we are both reading mixed aswers as to weather these 2 parts are compatible together.

The CPU is the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, used alongside the Crucial Pro DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6400MHz CL38 memory.

The packaging for the memory says it 'requires' a 9000 series CPU, but I'm reading some folks saying that you don't need it and that it will work fine on a 7000 series processor.

Would love to hear if any of you guys know of or have an experience with these 2 working fine together.

It should be fine, it might not run at rated speeds but honestly fast memory doesn't matter all that much with X3D processors.

A 9000 CPU is more likely to have a bios (in the board it is placed in) that supports that speed "out of the box", whereas older 7000 series CPUs (their early rev boards) didn't know what to do with it and would probably crap out at POST after it was set.

AMD added dividers so you can run the memory at a different ratio, so newer boards/BIOS updates shouldn't have a problem.
