Hi

Its been a few years since I have last built a PC and needing to do the upgrade from Win 10 to 11 it feels like a good time to equip my son with a decent enough PC for his uses. He does use the PC for gaming but not top end games, roblox, Ancient Warfare 3 Payday2. Generally games that are at least a couple of years old before he starts playing them.

The overall budget is around £1100 although it is going to be split between the two of us with him buying the graphics card (budget £300) and I will pick up the rest (budget £800).

I am looking for a bit of advice to see if I have missed anything or picked components that are weak, underpowered or over priced. Pretty confused by the myriad of options available. At this point I have the following:

1 x Fractal Design Pop XL Silent Black Solid Full Tower Case - Black £95
1 x MSI B650 Gaming Plus WIFI (Socket AM5) DDR5 ATX Motherboard £150
1 x AMD Ryzen 5 7600X Six Core 5.30GHz £190
1 x be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 850W ATX 3.0 £110
1 x Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2X16GB) DDR5 £120
1 x Kingston FURY Renegade 2TB PCI-e 4.0 £125
1 x Arctic Freezer 36 A-RGB 120m Black CPU Cooler £30

1 x Asus GeForce RTX 4060 Dual OC £300
or
1 x Sapphire Radeon RX 7600 XT Gaming OC £300

Case massive

Swap the memory to this to save £30.

£300 GPU the 6750xt should be considered.

Save £10 on the cooler.

how olds your son?... from experience with my 2 boys and their friends, they all like a bit of rgb and open design rather than a black box which is about as interesting to look at as...well as a black box

below on budget and will be faster than a 4060/7600xt for gaming

gpu most importand part for gaming, so went 7800xt, though I'd wait till end of jan for amd new gen cards...but this is a now now build
loose the 2tb and drop to 1tb ...can add more storage later and cheaper than getting a new gpu..i'd rather have to uninstall a game and play at better fps, than have more storage and have to lower quality settings
kept the a36 freezer..is a dual fan config rather than single and can handle a far more powerful cpu for later down the line..also runs quietly
eagle mobo is basic, but has everything on it..vrm's run 83 degrees on test with a 1hr cinebench with a 7950x so more than enough..go up o something like the tuf gaming wifi if you want better which rund 65 degrees..ish top of my head, but below has wifi 6e and bluetooth etc...
asus 850w psu 10yrs guarantee with atx3.0 compatability(not that you need that with amd, but covers you if you switch down the line)

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions, I have certainly saved a few pounds (or allocated it to other parts of the build as is likely). I have spoken to my son and he is happy to wait on the next gen of cards being released before purchasing a new graphics card. We will reuse his old 6500XT in the meantime before he splashes the cash.

I have updated my list to

1 x Fractal Design Pop XL Silent Tempered Glass Full Tower Case £95 - he wants black, no or very limited colours is something that he has requested.
1 x Asus TUF Gaming 850W 80 Plus Gold Power Supply £90
1 x Gigabyte B650 EAGLE AX (Socket AM5) DDR5 ATX Motherboard £135
1 x AMD Ryzen 5 7600X Six Core 5.30GHz (Socket AM5) Processor £189
1 x Arctic Freezer 36 A-RGB 120m Black CPU Cooler - 2x 120mm £30
1 x Corsair Vengeance 32GB EXPO (2X16GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C30 6000MHz Dual Channel £90
1 x WD Blue SN580 2TB SSD NVME M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 Solid State Drive £99

Total: £728

That frees up a little more to be spent on a new graphics card of around £400 - £450

Thanks again.

A cheaper case but still has good airflow (especially with adding a high spec gpu later). I have built a pc in this and it a nice case to work in. No rgb.

Just add a couple of these fans

Quiet, good airflow and cheap.

Also a better cooler with no rgb for the same money,
