Hi all,
I just upgraded to
Asus ROG Strix Z490-E
Intel I9 10850K CPU
WD_Black SN750 2TB NVMe SSD
Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO Black 32GB 3200 Mhz DDR 4 Dual Channel Memory
Those were my new parts and now these are my old parts...
Corsair AX 860i PSU
MSI GTX1080ti Gaming X
So after reinstalling windows 10 Home Version 20H2 i was getting random crashes where both my screens would just go a blank grey colour (one darker than the other) with no error messages and i would have to hit restart button to get back into windows. I did all the latest chipset, graphics and bios versions but made no difference. I also was having random internet drop outs for about 5 seconds now and then so after many hours of searching forums i saw many people having same sort of thing with these motherboards ( some say it was to do with the XMP profiles dont work).
So ive sent the motherboard back and got the Asus ROG Maximus XII (wi-fi) and im now up and running with fresh install of windows again with all the latest chipset, graphics and bios versions and i dont get the internet drop outs now but i still get the same random crashes with same blank grey screens with no errors.
in the bios i set the option to run intel settings not overclock and set to xmp 1 profile.
I can game all day with no problems and then the next day it can crash but not when im in game more when i come out of the game and maybe go on internet or do something that is not power hungry.
CPU temps are around 30c on 27c-30c on idle and around 60c-70c in game.
ive also tried on the Asus ROG strix z490e motherboard putting my older ram which was 16gb pc3200 ddr4 back in but i got the same problem so i have not tried putting the old ram in this new Maximus motherboard so im now wondering is this a problem with my new Hard drive or CPU or is my graphics card which was fine in my old system now a problem due to it being moved after so long.
It does sound like ASUS are having some trouble with the new z490 motherboards and maybe the xmp profiles but im no expert and just reading things on forums.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT THANKS.
