Hello all i have just built a pc

Specs i9 9900k
Msi carbon pro board
32gb 3200mhz ram
Nvme 1 tb
Ssd 1tb
850 Corsair psu
Cpu watercooler corsair ml360r

No gpu in system currently

I have tried to install windows 10 via usb flash drive setting it to boot priority, but the screen keeps freezing at different points and then i
hear the cpu fans ramping up and i know it's crashed at that point

Cpu temp never goes above 34 and mobo 38

Sometimes it freezes instant other times i can get halfway through installing windows then it freezes then i need to turn it off again

I removed a working ssd from another system with windows already installed and i can sometimes get to desktop....but again just freezes

I have tried with mouse only then keyboard only to no avail

I'm not 100% but when i enter bios i don't think it has froze once even after sitting in bios for more than 20 mins

Any help appreciated, thanks

I had exactly the same issue when trying to install windows 7 onto my new build because my hardware wasn't compatible.

Have you tried using a different USB drive and/or USB port?

Did you make the USB with the Media Creation Tool or Rufus?

I downloaded the .iso and created the USB with Rufus and works every time.

Try with 16gb RAM and only the NVME drive connected.

As above.

I assume nothing is clocked? I would let the memory default to 2133MHz while installing - if you get any progress you can look at adjusting your frequency when in a stable/usable environment.

Could also think about updating the bios. My 9900k build wouldn’t install windows until I’d flashed the bios. Was a gigabyte mobo but worth looking into.
