Greetings, im looking to update my aging system running an AMD Barton3200+ to the following.

Im not looking for something that will likely be cable of cold fusion but be able to play games such as Far Cry 2, Supreme Commander etc and have a reasonable shelf life of 3 years without breaking the bank.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

what sort of budget you looking at? is it just for games?

No more than £700 to be honest, yes i would like to play games but im not overly concerned about very high resolutions, were probably talking about 1280 x 1024 on my 19" Viewsonic at medium quality rather than the whole hog.

Regards

With a £700 budget you can get a rather nice system. This setup is a bit under budget and should play all the games you have listed at high settings on 1280x1024.

That CPU is fast at stock, but if you are interested in overclocking it will go up to 3.6-3.7 with that cooler/mobo and some luck.
