New PC build no power, any idea on the issue??

Ahh I see, that may explain it, also the PC doesn't recognise that it's there, I'll try and get some drivers but no optical media so gotta try and get it online
have you tried re seating it in the slot? also if that doesnt work is there a second pcie slot you can try it in?

EDIT. just looked at the board.. no second slot.

Tho I was just thinking that the hdmi is plugged into the gpu and it's giving me a picture of the desktop so I assume that means it's working??

Downloading drivers now to see that works.

you using windows 10 if so right click on the start button (is it still called that? ) and click on device manager and go to display adapters and see what is listed.

It says Microsoft basic display adapter??

I'm using an older ssd from a previous build that had drivers for gtx 980 so I've removed them and installing fresh drivers to see if that works.

Then my next problem is being able to access the bios with s wireless keyboard to I can tell windows I have a second ssd, is it's not registering it in windows

type computer management in the search then go to disc management and see if it maybe needs set up there.

nice one. any joy with the graphics card?

what made you get the 1060 over the 980?

I sold off my PC about 6 months ago, but thought I'd treat myself for Xmas and I had the itch to build a new PC, the 980 was a lovely card but I already owned one and sold it, so I thought I'd try out the 10x series without spending too much.

Gpu is working fine now, but steam is being a bugger with the steam guard thing, it's still not sent me my code so I can access my games.

nice glad its playing game. yea Steam can be a pain at times..

youll need to let me know how you get on with the 1060. Ive got the 970 and im itching to change it.. had looked at the 1060 but a few benchmarks ive seen im not sure how much better than the 970 it would be.. been tempted to buy a 2nd hand 980ti even looked at a 980 as my lad needs an upgrade from the 7950 to play some games. and the 7950 will find its way in to the parts bin build

Tbh I'm quite surprised with it, playing the new'ish / latest tomb raider, full setting on 1080 and the 1060 gives me about 79fps while the 980 gave me about 76fp, it doesn't sound like a lot but considering the prices from when I bought the 980 to the 1060 it's a really good card, also it's not pulling as much juice from the wall.

Would I upgrade if I still had the 980? Properly not, but from the 970 I think I would you could sell the 970 for what £100 that pretty much pays for half of the 1060, I'd say go for it treat yourself. :D
