New pc build not booting

Hi folks,
my friend has recently decided to build a new pc. The pc will not boot and I suspect it is an incompatibility between his motherboard:
Gigabyte 787X-OC intel 787 DDR3 atx
and his memory:
Avexire Core Blue Series 2 x 4gb DDR3 pC3-21000C11 2666 Mhz dual channel

processor: intel core i5-4670
gfx: msi twin frozr II geforce

Are there any experts out there that can give us some guidance?

the motherboard was incorrectly wired to the case. Once that was sorted there was a power button actually on the motherboard that once pressed it seemed to sort it out.
