Hi, this is my first post here :)

It's time I replace my Dell 420XPS which has the Intel Core2 Extreme Q6850 @ 3.00GHz processor, so I've ordered up the following and will be trying my first full build this weekend, but I was wondering if you could check the spec for any glaring errors and if this seems like a good setup?

I'm not looking to overclock at the moment so haven't gone down a 3rd Party Heatsink/Cooling solution and I'll be adding on another 8GB Ram soon also.

Ok, here's the spec!

  • Intel 3rd Generation Core i7-3770K CPU (4 x 3.50GHz, Ivy Bridge, Socket 1155, 8Mb L3 Cache, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0) Retail with stock heatsink
  • Thermaltake PSU SMART 650W/ 80plus Bronze Certificated Power Supply with Cable Management
  • Crucial Dimm Desktop Memory Upgrade (8GB Kit - 4GBx2,240-pin,DDR3 PC3-10600,Cl=9,1.5v)
  • MSI Z77A-G45 Motherboard (Intel Core i3/i5/i7/Pentium/Celeron, Intel Z77, ATX, RAID, Gigabit LAN, Socket LGA1155)
  • SanDisk SDSSDX-240G-G25 240GB Extreme SATA III 6Gb/s 2.5in Internal Solid State Drive
  • Cooler Master Elite 430
  • 3 of: Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000 Fan (120x120x25), Sharkoon
  • 1 of: Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition High Airflow Single Fan

This all cost me £608.24 brand new and delivered.

I already own an Asus 1GB GeForce GTX 560TI DirectCUII PCI-E Graphics Card which I'll stick in it.

So what do you reckon, is this up to scratch?

Cheers

have you already ordered and just want an opinion or are you looking at ordering and want advice on what to do different?

why I7 do you use some hevay processing apps which could make use of the HT technology? if not drop that to an i5 3570k then you could afford a good 3rd party cooler. not needed yet. but still nice to have.

Ah sorry I should have said what I use the computer for, it's a combination of gaming (BF3 etc), photography editing (Lightroom & PS), website design including video encoding and general business stuff.

I've already ordered but if something is way out I can always return and exchange.
