Hello all.

I've been impressed by the detailed knowledge displayed in this forum and having just bought the components for my new system (5 years since my last upgrade..) I thought I'd check with the OCUK forum experts.

I'm looking for any advice on possible compatibility issues or anything I may have overlooked when choosing the following:

Processor
i7 6700K 4GHZ

GPU
MSI R9 390 8GB Radeon

Motherboard
MSI Z170A GAMING M7 (intel LGA-1151)

RAM
8GB (2x4GB) Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX Red, PC4-25600 (3200)

PSU
EVGA 1000W Gold

Case
Corsair C70 VENGANCE

Any feedback offered would be most appreciated. Thanks! :D

You don't need a 1000W psu for R9 380 even for crossfire. The EVGA G2 750W would be fine, or 550W for a single card.

Hello all and thanks for the replies.

The back of the box for the r9 390 recommends "a 750w psu" and I intend to add another card in crossfire, possibly a year or so from now. The 1000w is just to 'future proof' my power requirements.

The thing I'm unsure of is the PSU compatibility with my Skylake processor as I've read that people had problems with some PSUs on the earlier Haswell CPUs. Does anyone have any advice on this please?

Also, for the motherboard, is the ram I've picked (3200mhz) suitable? I've read the board "supports dual channel DDR4 with speeds in excess of 3000mhz".

Thanks!

Doubt your PSU will have any problems. Which model is it exactly? G1 or G2 or other?

RAM should be fine. And in case of any rare issues can always lower frequency to 3000, or give the 3200 more voltages.

The PSU is an evga 1000w G1. I looked at the motherboard manual and the ram specs and I believe the"SPD" of the ram is 2133, but can be updated 3200 with an 'xmp' profile.

I'm looking forward to building this system at the weekend. Once again, thanks very much to all you folks who offered advice. :)
