NEW PC BUILD, WANTING ADVICE PLEASE

Hi guys, im looking to build a new rig mainly for gaming, browsing, movie converting etc, i only need a base unit and the last rig i built was when e6400were top of the range and am now out of touch?? wondered with new phemon quads and core2quads, ati and amd new choice of cards whats the best way to go with good oc headroom if cheaper?? budget around 600

No arguments Intel own AMD in the cpu battle, AMD/ATI are probs the best graphics cards out at tho moment though. Get a P45/X38 board and Corsair/Seasonic/Enermax PSU too. Thats my opinion anyhoo

How many films you got to rip?

You could be looking at several hundred just for hard drive space.

You will be wanting a q6600 quad.
Then it's just a matter of cramming what ever else you can into the budget.

As it is media as well as gamin, is noise a problem?

Thanks for all the input guys i didnt need an os as i have vista 64 bit already and stating i only need desktop means i didnt want anything else!! I think shaffaaf27 or hp7909 would be the one for me as i say majority gaming with some movie converting (not priority but like to be pretty quick)
