So I have decided after about 2 years of keeping my systems pretty much the same but with minor tweaks I am looking to get a new machine.

I have the following systems:
HTPC + download box
P4 2.4 M0 stepping with thermalright SP90 HSF
Asus P4C800E Deluxe
1.5GB of Ram mixture of Speeds
2x160GB Maxtor SATA drives
1x40GB Fujistusi PATA drive
2xDVDRW's
Hercules 9800 AIW SE
Compro DVT300 tv card
Antec Trueblue 480W PSU
Thermaltake Xaser 3 black case

Game PC
Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester with Thermalright XP120 HSF
Asus A8N-E Deluxe Sli Nf4 board
2.5GB assorted memory
2x BFG 7600GT gfx card
3xRaptor 74GB HDDs
2x120GB Maxtor Drives
2xDVDRW drives
1x Generic PSU 350W
1x Antec NeoPower 480W PSU
Coolermaster stacker case

So I have decided it is about time I start to think about upgrading. I think having two machines is a bit of a waste so am toying with the idea of either relegating one of my machines to be a NAS box or cramming everything into the stacker.

I am planning to upgrade the HDDs and get a couple of the WD 500 HDD's that are on this week only.

Now I have decided that Core2Duo is the way to go and am really looking at Q2 before I have the required funds to start thinking about buying the core components for the machine.

so the components I am looking at are as follows:

EVGA nForce 680 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £154.99
(£182.11) £154.99
(£182.11)
Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 5000AAKS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM £75.99
(£89.29) £151.98
(£178.58)
BFG GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £339.99
(£399.49) £339.99
(£399.49)
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £171.99
(£202.09) £171.99
(£202.09)
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) £139.99
(£164.49) £139.99
(£164.49)

so what cooler would be best for the cpu as I intend to overclock as much as I can plus any changes on the h/w I have picked?

This will be a slow build so I guess I may change components if better ones come out before I buy one of the above but I may stick with my current GFX cards until the 8800's come down in price a little.
