Hey

I'm looking to buy a new PC in the next week or so.

I've got a budget of around £800 and it will be mainly used for gaming on my current 19.1" monitor at 1680x1050. I don't plan to do any overclocking at all and am looking for a set-up that will last a few years.

After browsing the forums for a few weeks I've put together the below spec, but am unsure about what memory to buy with it - what do people suggest?

I don't believe I need an optical drive as I'm currently using a NEC ND-3540A 16x DVD±RW, but tell me if you think ovetherwise :)

I've also seen people suggesting I7 builds over the AMD Phenom II Tri Core, any reason for this and would there be a better option over what I've put together below?

Thanks in advance

Id say stick with the PSU you chose, decent reasonably priced and modular, no reason to get the corsair over that, but yeah get a sunbeam cooler, theyre great, Id look at a 4890 over a 4870
Edit: Ahh you missed RAM? Id wait for the cheaper 4gig £41 stuff to come back in stock, see if they have an ETA. That may mean you sticking to 4870 to stay within budget

Thanks for the quick replies :)

I'll change the cooler to the Sunbeam and keep the PSU as it is, now just need to sit and wait for the RAM to come in stock :)

Will I need any extra cables other than what's supplied with the components?

No you won't.

Post some pics when you begin your build. :)

Shhh, no he can't :-)

Besides, this is the same price, or a close as doesn't matter. G.Skill isn't well known over here, but it's fairly well recognised as decent overclocking memory over in asia.
