Hi, I'm planning on building a new PC for gaming.

Here is what i'm planning on building:

- Antec 1200 Twelve Hundred (V3 USB3.0) Ultimate Gaming Case - Black
- Asus Xonar D2 7.1 PCI Sound Card
- Samsung SH-B123L/RSBP 12x BluRay ROM / DVDRW DL & RAM Lightscribe SATA-2 Optical Drive
- OCZ Agility 3 60GB 2.5" SATA-3 Solid State Hard Drive
- Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB SATA 6GB/s Hard Drive
- Powercolor HD 7970 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
- Team Xtreem 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C9 2133Mhz Dual/Quad Channel Kit
- MSI Z68A-GD65-G3 Intel Z78 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
- OCZ ZX Series 1000W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply
- Corsair Hydro H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
- Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail
- Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit

The cost isn't too much of a worry for me as I've saved ;)

I'll be using it for BF3, Skyrim, CoD etc... which I will want to record as well.

Please suggest any changes that you would make :p

Thanks!

Get the pcie sound card, much more future proof.

Get cheaper ram as it makes very little difference beyond 1600.

Get a 120gb 520 or m4 ssd and a smaller storage drive.

- Samsung SH-B123L/RSBP 12x BluRay ROM / DVDRW DL & RAM Lightscribe SATA-2 Optical Drive

Is it a retail version? OEM dont come with software.

Team Xtreem 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C9 2133Mhz Dual/Quad Channel Kit

1600Mhz is all you need for Sandybridge setups.

- OCZ Agility 3 60GB 2.5" SATA-3 Solid State Hard Drive

Crucial SSD's are at a good price currently, faster too - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18368623

Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB SATA 6GB/s Hard Drive

Cheaper - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-255-SE&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=1955

Looks good. As the others have said - I would get a bigger SSD and a smaller HDD and slower RAM. Get the 256GB Crucial M4 if you can stretch (it is highly recommended along with the whole range of Crucial M4's)

Im not even sure a H100 is a good idea in that case, it wont go in the roof where the "bigboy" fan is.

If you try and fit it to the rear two 120MM positions, then the ends of the radiator could interfere with the top of a GFX card.

How about a case with room in the top for a H100 by design?

hmmm £240 :/ How about Crucial M4 128GB (£118), surely that's enough storage if I have at least 1TB HDD?

Stulid, slight problem... I already have the Antec 1200, although I suppose I could settle for the H80 or Antec 920 which should fit nicely in top rear slot... and should keep the i5 nice and cool.

Depends how much swapping you want to do over time with games from your SSD to the storage drive?

It is expensive and if you're only able to stretch to a 128GB then that's certainly more than fine and you can always get another later on down the line if you wanted to :)

128GB is the optimum size for price/benefit ratio in my opinion - it's just you said you didn't have a budget :p

Hahah yeah, although 256GB SSD seems pretty overkill at the moment, and any spare change could help go towards my first car :D

So this is what I now plan on building, thank you!
