Hey everyone.

I am building a new PC and was wondering what you guys would build with a £1000 budget. Please note I wont need the following:

GPU - I already have a 1080
Keyboard & mouse
Monitor
SSD's

I will be using it mostly for gaming but also everyday stuff. I would like this pc to last as long as my current one which is 8 years. Lucky me had a 2500k OC to 4.8.

CPU I am looking at a AMD 1800x yes I know price wise the 1700 is better but like I said I want it to last about 8 years or so. So I do think 1800x which I wont OC for first few years.

So hit what would you buy?

Ideally you need at least 3000MHz memory coupled with Ryzen - 3200MHz being the sweetspot but not guaranteed at present but should be achievable in the future with most kits (a lot of kits are hitting 3200MHz with the new AGESA release but still not guaranteed - but 3000MHZ is fast becoming the norm.)

Also, unless you're considering SLI the AB350 motherboards are more than adequate - especially as you're not considering overclocking. But these boards still do a good job if you consider it in the future. The 1800X is a lot of CPU - the 1700X would suffice if you wanted to save some money - even with future proofing in mind.

The PSU you selected overkill (for single 1080) - the Bitfenix 750W, whilst still 100W more than you need, for a single GTX 1080 is only a few pounds more than its 650W smaller brother. It's a quality 7 year guarantee unit and will save you a lot of money.

Kept the cooler - but be sure it can fit in your present case - and the orientation that you would want it.

Also kept your M.2. drive choice - but be aware you can get alternative versions which are marginally slower but you would get double the storage for the same money - depends what you value most:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £969.00
(includes shipping: £11.10)

An alternative example for price comparison with a 1700x, 650W PSU and air cooler that would still get you a decent clock in the future. Also, a marginally slower M.2. drive but double the capacity - if storage was an issue.

Total: £893.04
(includes shipping: £11.10)

Good alts but your missing the case I would like a new case as well. To be honest the case is the one thing I have been really stuck on. My current case is http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mid-tower/scout/ which I really like. But I will be giving this to my son. So yes need a new case. Any suggestion. Also my budget is rather open just a preference to be less than 1k. But I don't want to miss out on anything due to cost. If an item cost a lot more but is a lot better than so be it.

Do you need an optical bay?

And mix and match the builds above to suit your needs - other than you will need 3000MHz memory minimum (3200MHZ being the max needed - but not necessary).

Ive got the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M its a great case.
Ive been looking at getting something else just as I get bored easy but most cases in my budget ive looked at don't come up to spec with the Enthoo Pro M

Almost their guys. I really could do with 4 usbs at the front/top I am happy to pay a bit more 150 or so for the case
Examples of Midi-towers Phanteks with 4 USB - varying prices and styles (sort of):

Oh man nice case but noooo window on the wrong side ahhhh
Yes, it is annoying that they only offer this style in the the inverse option :/

They do similar - but not as clean looking...

EDIT: How often do you use the optical bay? If it's only occasionally you could get an external drive and increase your options...
