My sons 2080ti build is slowly dying so going to try and build a future proof build, 80% gaming and 20% browsing the net, will be using a lg 48cx oled so want to maximise connecting it the tv,
Ideally want to keep it under £2800,
Want to stick with nvidia for the gpu and amd for the cpu, would like a white case would like a hyte case but don’t want to spend on extra fans etc, as long as it remains future proof for awhile I’ll be happy.

Thankyou for the lists,
So for gaming and future proofing amd ryzen 7 7800x3d is the best ?
And a nvidia 4090 gpu,
Apart from the mentioned motherboards above, are there any other that people suggest that would be compatible for upgrading components in the future ?

Yes

Yes at present.

Upgrading will be able on all boards but whats missing from the motherboard above is pcie5 so if you want that which will give m2 pcie5 abity and pcie5 bandwidth for newer GPUs.

Something like this if your after a whiteish board.

If you go AM5, AMD have said they will be supporting the socket through 2025, so you should get at least 1, probably 2 more generations.

In reference to the 4090, I don't think it is possible to justify spending nearly 2K from a future proofing perspective. You're almost always better off buying a card that is "good enough" for your needs right now and then upgrading in 2-3 years.

Thankyou, think I have a list of components that I want:

CPU: amd ryzen 7 7800x3d
Cooler: thermalight peerless assassin (white)
Mobo: asus prime x670e-pro
Memory: Kingston fury beast expo 32gb (2x16gb
Gpu:looking for a white 4090 (zotac trinity oc) maybe ?
Storage: ( i already have a Samsung 970 evo plus m.2 ssd 1tb) but should I get the suggested ones that you guys have linked to ?
Case: (white case)
Psu: phanteks amp 1000w v2 80plus gold power.

Just some more suggestions regarding case ?
Their have been some really good suggestions already, but would welcome more input.

Zotac cards come with a 5 year warranty if registered within 30 days otherwise it's 3 years so yes highly recommend that.

Case.

Plenty room in in theese.

Is the PSU white your looking at ?

Someone mentioned phanteks amp 1000w in white ?

If you already have it, then it is fine.

They do both, but my spec included the white version.
So the Samsung 970 evo plus m.2 ssd 1tb I already have should be good enough to reuse ?
Don’t tend to install loads of games, just 1 or 2 that I tend you play and finish

Hi regarding your comment about what gpu fits my needs,
Whatever pc I do end up getting (might have to sacrifice a purely white build, very hard to just look at whitish components) I will be hooking it up to my lg 48 cx oled tv, so ideally would like to try and use “some of the features” that the tv provides, I’m not into online games (to old) so solely a single player gamer and deep into sports games,
So what gpu should I be looking at ?

It depends on what exactly you're expecting from the graphics card, but have a watch of this video:

The 7900 XTX is half the price of a 4090, so it is worth considering. Powercolor do a white version called the hellhound, as do ASRock (Taichi).

The minimum I'd want for 4K would be a 7800 XT or 4070, but realistically they wouldn't last long at that resolution.

Thankyou for your reply,
Nothing against amd gpu’s but I prefer the money hungry nvidia gpu’s,

Ideally would like to keep the gpu for at least 4 years, and to be honest I have only witnessed 4k and all its whistles via GeForce ultimate so if I can play at 1440p at its highest settings for that time period I would be more than happy with that

MLID mentioned that the 4080 Super is coming out in February (actually Jan 31) and the expected pricing is either $999 or $1199 so basically substitute the £ sign in there. The performance is expected to be "close enough" to 4090 at half the price. Something to bear in mind

I’ve heard theirs a nvidia “show” on Monday is that regarding the new gpu’s (4080 super) ?

Obviously theirs a difference but how far ahead is the 4090 compared to the 4080 and incoming 4080 super (if any info is out yet about the 4080 super)

No one knows as yet. However, the quote was "close enough" so that at half the price will give people pause for thought.

MLID expects performance to increase around 6% before increase in RAM bandwidth is taken into account. Some vendors will choose to increase (or have two versions) and others may not
