Looking to put together my first pc for gaming at 1080p a rough idea of the parts I would go with:
Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini Snow Edition Midi-Tower Tempered Glass - White £124.99
Asus TUF Gaming A620-Pro WIFI (Socket AM5) DDR5 ATX Motherboard £149.99
KIOXIA EXCERIA G2 1TB SSD NVME M.2 2280 Solid State Drive £42.95
Aerocool Frost 12 PWM FRGB LED Fan - 120mm x4 £17.96
AMD Ryzen 5 7600 Six Core 5.10GHz (Socket AM5) Processor - Retail £194.99
TeamGroup Vulcan EXPO 32GB (2X16GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C38 6000MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (FLABD532G6000HC38ADC01) £99.95
Gigabyte Radeon RX 6800 Gaming OC 16GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card £424.99 (noticed it was on sale)

Extras:
Arctic 10 Way PWM Fan Hub £6.95
Kolink 120mm Magnetic Dust Filter - Black x3 £8.97

A few questions as I've never put together a pc before:
Did I pick the right parts any alterations?
are that graphics card and processors a good match?
what wattage power supply would I need?
any thing else I missed out like thermal paste etc?
And just any advice for a novice.

Just to add I was wondering how long people think a pc like this would last at 1080p
my budget was meant to be £1k but I slipped a bit over
I noticed that for a game like starfield for example you need a pretty expensive graphics card
thanks

What resolution are you wanting to game at, and what are you planning on playing?

Quick throw together:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,198.84 (includes delivery: £7.99)

This is going to come out to a similar price to what you've specified above once you include a PSU while being a much better rig, a lot of what you've listed is simply not necessary.

The 6800 really isn't worth it at when you can get a 7800XT for £50 more. Regardless, a decent psu for either of the cards is going to cost you in the £100 range for something worthwhile.

I believe you'll need an HSF for the 7600, but a £15 Thermalright Assassin King would be more than ample (look for the five heatpipe version), as would the £30 Thermalright Phantom Spirit.

Yep.

For a 6800, I'd get 750 or higher. E.g. Seasonic GX-750, or the Corsair RMx suggested above.

Lower might do it, but the saving isn't worth it.

6800 is pretty powerful for 1080p so 3-4 years should be doable (depends on the settings and your expectations, e.g. are we talking Ultra with ray tracing, or just playable @ 60 fps?), though you're right that newer games like Starfield are hard on them.

Did I pick the right parts any alterations?
You'd be better off (cost wise) buying a case with the fans included, like Lian Li's 216.

Mini snow edition would require a sfx power supply I believe...been awhile since I looked..just checked and would require small form factor psu..are you dead set on this case? as comes with no fans etc and
will fit an atx board so ok there, butfu ll size atx means positioning of the board effects fans/rads if you go that way....going to have to read up on it again

The A620 board is ok, but I think for £20 more the tuf B650 gaming wifi is better value as a longer term proposition. the b650 board has better vrm's from what I've read and can support any current 7000 series cpu...the a620 was designed with low powered cpu's in mind, and if upgrading to something more power hungry in the future, you may find a bit of cpu throtling...i havent read too much up on the a620 board, but it was in one review...seeing as that may be a possibility and the fact the b650 board has an additional m.2 slot as well as a couple more i/o ports on the back, I think it's £20 worth spending
Your 1tb drive is slow by todays standards at 1700 read, 1600 write with a 400tbw endurance...i know more money but something like the lexar nm790 at £59 has read 7400, write 6500 and 1000TBW endurance ....tbw is tb written to drive, so on average you'll be able to write 1000 tb to the drive before on average it fails, where are other is 400 tb....so the lexar should on average last 2.5 times as long before it starts to fail...being much fast read spead is good for an os drive too, and when funds allow, you can get another bigger drive for games etc while keeping the 1tb as your os drive only
decent gpu but last gen and on a par with the 7700xt though 4gb more vram, though bigger power draw.... thinking if anything else out there 7800xt step up and can be had for £50 more now

also, you have white case, and everything inside is black incl the fans?? is this the look you're going for?

the below with the same power supply works out £60 more but will give you a higher level of gaming, a slightly bigger case that has excellent airflow that can fit a 4090 (for size, so s/b good for future gpu upgrades), more powerful mobo for cpu upgradeability, fast nvme drive and faster ram(has tighter timings which is good for gaming)...and a more powerful gpu

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,242.92 (includes delivery: £7.99)
that being said, if you love the mini snow, you love the mini snow.....but want to make sure you want all black fans etc with white case...above 216 case comes in white also

Thanks for the responses

Yes so I was looking at playing at 1080p 60fps medium graphics settings. If I could cover most titles now and maybe in say 2 years. Would my rig or the rigs suggested be ok for that?
Also is 2 intake 2 exhaust fines suitable for this setup

Easily. RX 7600 could manage that.

It says here that on 1080p medium quality starfield the rx7600 couldn’t manage 60fps and that’s on a game that’s just coming out soon let alone 2 years into the future. That’s what made me think I needed a higher end graphics card to survive at 1080p. Could you explain? Thank you.

Starfield was optimised to run on a nuclear power station.

If you look at TPU's benches here, this is with max quality, there's a little chart at the top of the graph:

Most games are comfortably above 60 fps, but Starfield and Alan Wake 2 are particularly hard to run. Hogwarts is modestly so.

That a useful link.
Ideally I was hoping not to break the 1k mark for the pc alone however when I saw what you need for starfield 1080p medium quality 60fps I went for a more powerful graphics card which drives the price of the pc up. I guess it’s deciding whether or not your ok with the odd game or two being beyond your pcs specs. Could drastically change the price of the build up or down. I’ll have to decide that thanks for the help.

To be clear: I didn't mean to say that you were making a mistake.

I think a card on the RX 6800 / 7700 XT level is a good call. What I meant to say is, I don't believe 2 years will trouble it at all.

Just had a scout on OCUK,

Seems the 7800xt is the best all round GPU, the lesser 7700xt isn't worth the money compared to the 7800xt.

The 7600 + 7600xt is only really suitable for 1080p gaming now, let alone over the next couple of years, the 7800xt will see you 1080p for at least 5 years with decent settings.

You can get my list below for £1100ish if you swap the 32gb of ram for 16gb, and it's a very good spec pc IMO. Especially for the money, similar to what I'll be building for my boy.

P.s. if you shop around and buy bits from various places you could likely get everything within budget just watch out for the carriage charges.

For me personally I'd like to use oc for the customer service imo it's worth that but extra, but if your really stretching the purse strings then this is an option

the 7800xt.
I had a 7800xt before I had to replace my computer, it was good @ UHD, so I can see it being pretty perfect at 1080p for years to come, and, like the 6800xt, the drivers can only mature and get better with time
it's a cool running card too, I had the MBA just like the above has specced
I think sx turbo has hit the nail on the head with his build there^^, maybe the PSU is a bit weak, for a future GPU update, don't want to have to rebuild the whole system in the future with a new psu just for a new gpu
kolink are a bit crappy too, the lanli lan cool is probably a safer bet

or gaming at 1080p
here is my suggestion, I've stuck with your original smaller form factor, and made sure that everything fits properly, I've really splashed out on the 1000w PSU for when you upgrade to a really good GPU, I know the MBA 7800 will fit because I had one and it is pretty dinky, the cooler comes with a tube of paste
