Ah I'm just waiting on the motherboard for the last piece of the puzzle, hopefully the Asrock 4 will provide these cables. Is it better to buy SATA 3 cables for the SATA 3 drives, or will SATA 2 suffice?

most motherboards come with a minimum of two SATA cables, one for the DVD and one for the HDD

im also pretty sure there is no difference in sata 2 and 3 cables, however, for the DVD drive and the HDD drive it wont really make any difference either way, they will not be fast enough to saturate a SATA 2 line. an SSD, however, will need need SATA 3 (wether that means a special sata 3 cable i'm not 100% sure

if you dont have the HDD yet then i'd suggest going for the 1TB seagate barracuda for £2 more because its not a 'green' drive (green drives spin more slowly to save power, reducing performance). its no problem if you already have the WD, but just a tip if you dont

i read up on sata 3 cables a week back when i got my ssd. sata 2 cables are identical to 3.... (therefor a sata 3 cable doesnt technically exist)

you do not need a specialised sata 3 cable for any ssd. just a normal sata cable will do...

I bought the green drive back when it was on offer for £72, still broke the bank for a HDD

Is it the motherboard or power supply that will come with the power connectors? On the Asrock website it says it comes with 2x SATA 1 to 1 Power Cables, is this the one? Guess I need another one for the third.
