Hey,

The last time i built a new PC i spent £350 on a 9700 PRO.....so i'm a bit bewildered at the moment!

I'm looking to overclock this so please take that into account :)

CPU : E6300 OEM
Memory : OCZ 2GB DDR2-800 PC2-6400 CL 5-5-5-12 Gold XTC DUAL CHANNEL Kit
Motherboard : Asus P5B Non Deluxe
GFX : XFX 7900GS 480M
Monitor : Xerox XM3-19W 19" Widescreen (1440 X 900) 5ms

I am limited because i have some credit to use at a certain shop so i want to use that up!

1. Is the p5b non deluxe ok? Or should i stretch and get the deluxe version. (or something else?)

2. Is the memory any good?

Please give me your suggestions. My price range seems to be heading around £900-1000 all in.

Thanks
James

This is what i went for in the end.

I was restricted to a certain store because i had some credit to use up with them before the end of the year.

The main thing i'm worried about is the ViewSonic Monitor - its such an important part to a computer i just hope i got the right one!

Also my GFX card? Should i spend a little extra and get something maybe in the £200 range?
With DX10 round the corner, better just go with the 7900GS. Note that its also quite good & can hold its own!

Only reason I can give for getting a more expensive card is if you don't plan to upgrade for a long time :)

Well i'm hoping i wont have to upgrade within the next 6-8 months at least! I am getting a large monitor that does 1680x1050 and with that card only have 256mb i'm starting to wonder if i need to spend a little more.

I dont want to spend more than £200 on a graphics card because gaming isnt the sole use of this computer, but i do want to be able to play some new games without feeling dissapointed! (more for vid editing + music production)

just to help out ..... the 7900GS will be absolutely fine for you for the next 6-8 months, then you can upgrade to a dx10 gfx card like the rest of us:)

the 7900gs will overclock very well too, your res will be driven fine by it:)

Thanks man! Thats all i wanted!

Its been a bit confusing because last time i did a major upgrade i bought a 1.6NW to overclock to 2.4ghz and a radeon 9700 PRO that cost me £350 haha.
