Hello everyone,

I Have been coming here a lot, but this is the first time I am posting... please go easy! Seeing as how amazing the community is here, I wanted to try and get your expertise in my new potential build. I want to upgrade my rig after 7 years, and with the new Ryzen 9 now out, it think ts time to stump it up! I am "fairly" knowledgeable regarding PC's, but have been out of sync since I built my last one. I would prefer something that is a bit future proof over spending less money. Gaming is the primary reason for the rig (but also general day to day work).


1) can anything be improved, but keeping around the same budget (1.5k € would be around the price point)
2) is something wrong here, or something would not work out when combined?
3) Am I missing something?

Would this work with all the motherboard options above?

  • Samsung MZ-V7S1T0BW SSD 970 EVO Plus 1 TB M.2 Internal NVMe SSD
(I have an existing Samsung 150 Gig 840 Pro which I would bring, which I guess would still be alright for storage I assume)


Fan
  • ARCTIC Freezer 34 - Tower CPU Air Cooler

PSU

  • Corsair RM850x PC Power Supply (is this overkill? needed?)

Case

I currently have a Corsair Memory Obsidian 650D Enthusiast Mid-Tower, which I would re-use (I assume is fine?)


Accessories

Keyboard, monitor, mouse are all covered (but best on markets would always be welcome!)

First of all, thank you EsaT - you are an absolute superstar! The feedback was fantastic and in depth...the motherboard insight blew me away, I never knew they were so bad! Most reviews seem good when I looked them up...the MSI feedback is crazy

I will go with all your choices that you stated above!

Would the Be Quiet! Dark Rock 4 also be a good option? I ask, as where I am (Germany), it seems to be only a few Euros more. I am going to see what I can order from here, and check how much the price conversion would be.

Could the Seasonic Focus PX 80PLUS Platinum (FOCUS GX-Serie, running at 750W) also be a good choice? Like above, availability of the others seem to be limited for me here and the price would be better (would save €10 to the Phanteks AMP you listed which is much more expensive over here)

Thanks once again for the other tips! Saved some money with the motherboard and SSD, so super happy there. Need to see what I can do regarding the memory, as the teamgroup I cant get here.

Then MSI went from hero to zero in X570.
With Wifi B450 Carbon was basically the ultimate B450 board, but X570 Carbon...

At least there's something good in higher softening/melting point of lead free solder:
It decreases the risk of board starting to desolder itself to pieces!

Have to wonder what's quality order in next round of boards...

Gigabyte 5700XT is the one to buy because of the RMA Service (assuming its the same in Germany as it is here)

You could drop to a 650W PSU if you want to save a few Euros. Corsair RM/RMx or Seasonic Focus GX/PX/Prime PSU's are solid choices.

would the drop to 650W change much? I don’t mind spending for the “better” choice

@EsaT speaks much wisdom. Assuming you currently play games at 1080p I'm going to suggest that you hold off an expensive GPU for now and go for something like a GTX 1660 Super or RX 590. Both of those will give you a good 1080p gaming experience. New GPUs are expected this summer - only a few months off - and when those come out prices will shift and at that point you should purchase a new GPU and monitor combo, and I would look for a 4K or 3440x1440 display.

I would say that the build is pushing its limits now(its about 7 years old)... it can just about handle the latest COD on low settings, and the same with PUBG

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: AMD Radeon R9 200 Series

can I do anything with this?

That's a 4770, not a 4770K, right? If the former, it's not overclockable, which is a shame. It's not a bad CPU and a simple GPU upgrade might tide you over until it's time to spend major money. Fire up Afterburner and look at the CPU and GPU usage. If your CPU usage is not near 100% then you are primarily GPU-limited.

Anyway, you mentioned that you live in Germany, you might want to purchase from Caseking, who are OCUK's EU partner.

Unfortunately just the standard - I made a bad choice back then with it!

Will give the afterbuner a check and see - if think would be viable for just the GPU, then could be an option - although I was excited about having something super good, compared with "getting along".

Good to know also about Caseking, will check that out also (I have been over for 10 years now), and if I could do a bundle there, even better.
