Hi,

OK, straight to the point.

I was playing the bioshock demo on my new system, only a few days old, just to see how well it ran. All was going well untill, after 10 minutes or so, my system just cut out, as if the plug had been pulled. Now I cant switch it on. The yellow light on the Motherboard is still lit up but when I press the on button I get about a 1/4 second burst of power, just enough for one of the fad LEDs to flash then nothing.

I've unplugged from the mains, let the system cool for a bit, but still the same thing everytime I try to switch on.

Any ideas what might be the problem or what to start checking? Any help will be really appreciated here.

Spec:

AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core AM2 6000
2048Mb 667Mhz PC5400
Asus M2N 32 SLi Deluxe Motherboard
HIS ATI Radeon HD 3870 XT ICEQ3 512MB

Thanks

Thanks guys, I was hoping it was the PSU rather than anything else, just the fact that the Mobo light was still on that made me think it wasnt. Anyway, managed to find an old dusty 300w PSU in the back of my cupboard, connected the essentials, and the system boots.

Thanks :D

Good to hear :)

But I would still like to know which PSU you was using before hand if you could tell us :)

The one that died was a "Win Power ATX-550L 550w". Was a cheapo, only cost about £18 and had some amusing "Engrish" on the box.

Yes, I have learned a lesson there...

It doesn't seem to have a name on it, just a model number LC-B350ATX, and its 350w not 300w as I thought. It's very old, came with the case of a system I built about 5 years ago. It's doing the job until I can get a better one.
