Hello everyone. So over the weekend i built my first PC. I'm still awaiting the arrival of Windows 8 and my RAM so i thought i'd do some researching about the first boot. I'm a little bit worried about it because i have no idea what i'm doing.

From what i've seen in a couple brief youtube videos is that should hopefully boot straight to the BIOS and they change the date and time. But then..... what do i do? I have a Asus Z87 Pro if this helps.

You'll probably have to press a key to get into the BIOS.

Set date and time. Set AHCI as default. Have a look around and change anything else to suit your needs. You can always come back to this stage later if you forget to change something.

You might want to grab the latest version of the BIOS and put it on a USB key. The BIOS should contain an upgrade utlity. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z87PRO/#support

After you've done the above, insert the Windows media and tell the system to boot from the DVD drive.
