Hello,

I currently have a budget of £800 for a new PC and will be able to build myself. I do not require keyboard, mouse or monitor (using a 24" ASUS). Can't say I have a preference between Nvidia or AMD but from what I read online games tend to be more stable with Nvidia? Is there any truth to this or is there more factors based on other than the graphics card.

Thanks for the time and help.

Hi and welcome.

Building your self is good as that means all the money cann be spent on the parts.

AMD or Nvidia both are fine, but at the moment nvidia do have the newest GFX cards.

Is it just the main tower you are after? no OS, keyboard, monitor etc?

It's a bit over £800 but that is because I did add a DVD drive that perhaps you dont actually need.

Or if you dicth the DVD+HDD as a 256Gb SSD isnt too bad and you can always add a HDD later,

Hello,

Thanks for the build. Regarding cases, do you find there is a big different between the cases that are marketed with better airflow that prevents dust from building up quickly and cooler temperatures. I would spend a bit extra if it means the insides won't be caked in dust after a month.

That Antec case has three fans with low+high speed fan controllers, also it says it has washable dust filters, so these are what you would remove after sometime and clean and refit.

It has a front filter and a PSU filter.

This pic - http://store.antec.com/2539-thickbox_default/p70.jpg

Shows the front filter and the odd shaped thing is the optional roof panel.

So if you do not want fans in the roof you can fit it and reduce noise or open and exhausting air up and out.

Will be keeping that in the basket for sure.

One other question for the gpu. I've been looking up on the 970 and have seen the backlash with it being actually 3.5gb with the other 0.5 not used effectively. Would it be worth switching it over to something like a Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Vapor-X OC 4096MB GDDR5 instead?

There's not that many regular 290's left in the store which could mean new cards from AMD are imminent but if you could find one for 200 it's worth considering.
