Hey all

Long story short my parents ancient Dell pc has finally died and they are in search of a new one.

They ordered a refurbished all in one pc (against my advice) from a well known company which was defective and got sent back for a refund.

Now they are looking at getting a refurbished 2014 mac mini.
While I'm sure it will do every thing they want I'm not sure if there is a better option for them.

The pc will only be used for desktop browsing and storing photos.
It must be small form factor. They dont want a huge tower, ideally something that can hide behind the screen or an all in one pc.
Budget is low around £400-450

Any one got any advice.

Cheers for the reply.

I did have a quick look into the Brix and the MSI cubi But after costing in windows they go over budget.

if they use any assistive technology they can get an upgrade to w10 for free. The NUcs and Brix are great for general browsing etc and there may be one with a lower spec CPU and the ram can be valueram,(4gb?) maybe even get a SSHD rather than SSD for space/value.
Small silent-ish and power efficient whats not to like?

I think they'd rather just get a built system with warranty and as little messing around as possible.
They would have been happy with the all in one PC if it had worked but the experience of it has put them off.

A Mac would be awful for parents. OSX is not intuitive at all.

This was also my first thought but my mother keeps on about upgrading her Ipad so maybe its a better choice?
she'd rather spend more on a new Ipad than the PC as she uses it more.

I was just wondering if there is anything similar to the mac mini to consider?
