Hi All,

I'm looking for a new gaming machine to play WoW & Warhammer online and a mate told me you guys were the ideal people to ask for help :) My current machine is 4 years old and runs WoW fine but can't cope with Warhammer. I don't need a monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc... just the tower, but it has to be a pre-build as I'm a techno retard! I've been looking at the Gamer Intel deal of the week (see specs below) which comes in at £875 inc VAT.

Titan Edge Wolfdale
- Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz
- Asus P5E-VM HDMI Intel G35 Micro-ATX (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
- Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB)
- ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB SATA-II 32MB Cache
- Pioneer DVR-216DBK 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black)
- Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2 SLi Compliant PSU
- Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler
- Arctic Silver 5 Heatsink compound
- Vista Home Basic 64bit

Does this look ok? It's the top end of my budget but I wanted peoples opinion on if it's worth splashing out an extra £110 to upgrade the graphics card to NVidia GeForce GTX 280 1024MB... I've read that WoW has issues with ATI cards and currently have an NVidia. I also heard it doesn't like Vista 64bit though I'm not sure idea what the difference between 32 & 64bit is tbh, I'm on XP at the mo. Does anyone know about this?

Finally, will I need a new router? Mine is 5 years old

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for your help. Please don't blind me with techy details on your replies or I'll be lost... if you imagine you're trying to explain it to your granny it'll probably be at my level :o

That setup looks fine.

IMO it is not worth the extra money for the 280 unless you are playing Crysis at high resolutions (24" upwards). I doubt the ATi issue will trouble you either, it's a new card, and should be fine.

Out of interest, what size monitor do you currently have? Also can't tell you much about the router until we know exactly what model it is :)

WoW runs fine on Ati cards.

It is not worth the money to get that Nvidia card.

If you're going to use Vista go 64 bit. Otherwise stay with XP(32).

If your router connects via Ethernet and currently works with no issues you do not need a new one.
If it connects via USB, and is some wacky ADSL/Router combo, it should be OK but you won't know unless you tell someone the details and they confirm it for you.
