New pc - games settings question

Got my new rig built, games copied over from old machine, just got to oc it now, & I'm wondering whether I should reset the graphics/sound etc to defaults or delete the configs entirely so the games (hopefully) build a new set?

I ask because I wonder if the defaults are defaults for the machine it was 1st installed on, so resetting to defaults would then give lower quality settings than a fresh config? But obviously its a lot easier to use the defaults button than track down all the config files.

A lot of the time the settings files are saved in the documents folder so if you didn't copy those over as well then you will have to start a fresh anyway. And defaults are defaults they won't change from machine to machine.

are you sure they dont change??? when i had my sli 770s in everything was automatically defaulted to ultra/max etc however now im using igp at the moment everything is defaulted auto to 720 and lowest settings, same machine dif config
