Hello, long time lurker here on the boards.

I generally do my own researching for things, but feel now is the time to get some feedback/tips on what to do regarding a new PC gaming build.

The last time I built a PC was back in late 2007 using Overclockers. I've done very little to upgrade it, except a change of case to a Corsair 600T and when I had to RMA my 600w Corsair PSU earlier in the year. But as time has moved on quite significantly I think I may need a near complete overhaul at this point.

I want to play all the latest games and games such as DayZ, Skyrim, BF3, Witcher 2 etc on max settings and with smooth framerates where possible.

My Current spec:

Case: Corsair 600T (White)
PSU: Corsair HX650W
Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3R
Processor: Intel Quad Core Q6600
RAM: 2GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 PC6400
Graphics: Nvidia 8800GTX
HDD: 2x 320gb Western Digital
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

I have a Deathadder Razer mouse and Logitech Keyboard, so no need for mouse/keyboard.

I do require a new monitor (24 inch max) and maybe a new DVD/Blue Ray Drive.

I'd like to stick to £1000 but my budget is flexible, especially if I need to spend a little more to make the PC future proof.

Thanks for your time :)

Well other reviews say its not bad,

Noise levels are also sitting in the top half, but on a whole they're pretty strong at both idle and load. Considering the performance, you'll probably find yourself pretty happy with the noise levels coming out of the video card, considering the FPS you'd be seeing with your game

The noise levels -- they are okay but as stated you can hear a low hum coming from the cooler. In desktop and idle mode you will not hear the card, it really is silent. Under hefty gaming load however you will be able to hear the product. We rated the card at 42~43 DBa (including background noise). That however is a normal noise level, which means you can hear the card, but not at annoying levels or anything like that.

Perhaps theres a difference between really loud and just having a a hmm at full load.

hmmm interesting there's so much variance. though guru3d's own review of the kfa still shows its less noisy than the palit...whether its worth the 20quid difference is up to op i suppose

edit: but then again idk if guru tested the noise levels at stock or overclock. i guess at overclock, any difference in sound level would be amplified, probably that's why thg didnt have a good showing for the palit

Also worth remembering is that these reviews are done on open tests benches and not in nice quality cases.

Also what one person deems to be loud could be quiet for the next guy.
