Hi built a new gaming PC back in June and been using an old Samsung 1080p 60hz 24" TV till now but wanting an actual proper gaming monitor now. Have mostly been looking at 1440p but would consider a 4k with decent refresh and not too expensive, purely for gaming.

Mainly wants are
curved is fine
No bigger than 32"
High refresh rate
HDR would be nice
No more than £500

Was eying up the Samsung Odyssey G6 LS27BG650EUXXU 27" Curved 1440p 240hz, no idea if there is better around for my budget. So many monitors around.

Can you build a powerful pc to run 4k and also keep updating your pc every few years to keep up.

I'm on 1440p and I just upgraded my pc see my Sig and I'm getting 130fps in my games at max settings, no complaints here with that. Also I shouldn't need to upgrade my system that often.

You might be happy at 4k 60fps but that's down to what your happier with.

I likely wouldn't play every game at 4k nor would I run everything at ultra with RT settings all the time. That's why I am not totally sure what monitor to go for. All I know is I definitely need to run my PC at higher than 1080p. Specs in sig.

Ideally I would have a look at 1440p and 4K side by side if you can, and decide whether you think 4K is worth the extra, your system is definitely 4K capable. Ideal 1440p res is 27", 32" ideal for 4K - I'd be looking at IPS, definitely not VA. The price difference between a good 27" high refresh monitor, and a similair quality 4K is roughly double.

Here's a review of your GPU in recent titles so you can see what you can expect on which monitor set up. You'll be set for years at 1440p, 4K less so, games are becoming ever more demanding and ever worse on release in terms of performance, and the console ports are performing terribly. On the other hand upscaling is improving all the time. As someone above said above you have to consider how often and how expensively you want to compete in the GPU arms race.

Yeah main reason for 4k would be some 4k gaming but also connecting a console to it and watching UHD content.

I have been considering the 27" Samsung g6 ‎LS27BG650EUXX seems OK review wise.

It's a VA panel, I wouldn't have one for gaming. I wouldn't prioritise a curved monitor either, curve works better with large UW monitors. VA has advantages vs IPS, but gaming isn't one of them, particularly not FPS.

Start here imo, these boys know their stuff! And tbh I'd stick with a 1440p monitor with your budget, be a lot less stressful on the XT (whilst still being a very good image quality increase).

Having looked at this recently myself I'd say the LG 32GQ850-B is the pick of the bunch, and has recently dropped to circa £500 from £800 (or even the 32GP850-B, down to £380).

That LG would be my pick at 32" 1440p.

If you really wanted to go 4K then I'd go with this, it's been on at £579 lately and I know that currently out of your budget but something to consider.

Newer than it's direct competitors and has full HDMI 2.1.

Not so much out of my budget but the wife would probably kill me for spending more than that.
Is the LG 32GQ850-B just the newer version of the P?

Looks very nice.

Currently have a dell 27" 1440p 144hz IPS monitor which I really like.

Will going for one of those LG 32" panels not look as good (pixel density)?
