Few more minutes, and my head will explode. I can't stand it anymore, it surpasses me. I am talking about building a new PC that will last for 2-3 years for gaming and I cannot decide after one week and plenty of hours spent researching on the Internet what will be best for me.

Every time I visit different forums people come with new, different ideas.
At first I was planning to spend about £1300, then it was £1500, then £1700... later £1800 and now £2000. I can afford it, I am just worried that I'll buy something I won't be happy of later.

I have already configured few setups I like, the one I was really aiming for is:

Intel Core i5 2500K - Awesome for OC.
Asus Sabertooth P67 - Looks epic.
2x Asus GTX 570 DirectCU II in SLI - Great cards better than 590..
Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 1866Mhz Should be ok.
Corsair Case 650D - Love the case and the 2x 3-slot cards will fit.
XFX Black Edition 850W Modular - Really nice and stable PSU.
Noctua NH-D14 - One of the best coolers (Rams may not fit in Dual-Channel slots - don't care, will figure something.)
Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision Kit - Yeah, 3D must be fun. I wonder if you can watch Anime in 3D hehe. The question is, is it worth it?
23.6" Acer Aspire GD245HQ - Not the best monitor but will do.
Samsung F3 1TB - Fast, quiet HDD.

+ Some additional stuff like Keyboard or Scythe Fan controller, DVD..
All that = £1,800.

Now, the other setup that confused me AGAIN is:

Intel Core i5 2500K
Asus HD 6950 2GB OC changed @70 x3 - Triple CF.
Asus Maximus IV Extreme
Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 1866Mhz
Fractal Design Define XL
XFX Black Edition 850W Modular
Noctua NH-D14
Samsung F3 1TB
Iiyama Prolite 24" E2473HDS-B1 x3 - Eyefinity!

+ Other accessories like mentioned last time.
All that = £2000.

As I said at the beginning, it surpasses me x999 times to decide alone. I want a setup that I will be able to do nice OC on. That will last me for 2-3 years of gaming, or more. I beg you guys for some serious advices, would be awesome.

If you won't help, I'll just bin the idea of getting a new PC and stay with my current one :(

both look amazing setups

my 2cents would be spend £1,000-£1,300 on a build then in 1-2 year time spend another £1,000 upgrading it, with constant new releases of hardware its hard to really "future proof" any build, after 3 years the only thing likely to keep up is a cpu/mobo/case/psu and maybe ram?

CPU - 8core? bulldozer out round july time, new intel chips around Jan 2012.
GPU - HD6990 and 590 last cards in the series maybe? will hd 7xxx and gtx 6xx be massive improvements?

anyways if that ^ was useless i'd go with 570 SLI they will eat up everything at that resolution and only 1 screen np, and im guessing 2 cards will produce less heat/noise inside the case compared to 3 cards if that is any concern.

i know feeling about trying to budget with new pc, my budget was way lower though, my original budget was max 600 ended up going to 660ish because i really wanted i5 2500k

my build was i5 2500k, gtx460 i Oc mine to 4.4ghz using the hyper 212 cooler (about £21) but my chip wouldnt go further, at a 24/7 reasonable voltage,

no SSD?

I was thinking the same, but I also can buy these expensive parts, sell them later and then buy new.

I don't like AMD.
I'll stick to SLI :) The only one thing that is nice about 590 - it has Physx burn :p

Things changed a bit and there will be SSD. Probably OCZ 60GB one.

I just want a computer, very powerful one, that will last for 2-3 years of gaming. My question is, combo of 3x HD6950(Unlocked to 6970) must be very powerful, but on resolutions like 5000x1900+ will they last for 3 years? Wouldn't it be just better if I would safely go with 2x GTX570 SLI, one monitor and some funny 3D? And even latter, add another 570 card? That should last for more than 2 years in just 1980x1020 resolution.

I finally decided to go for this:

Arctic Cooling MX-2 Thermal Paste
Razer Lycosa Keyboard
Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision
Scythe Kaze

XFX Black Edition Modular 850W
Noctua NH-D14
Acer Aspire GD245HQ 23.6"
Intel Core i5 2500K
Sony DRU-880S
Corsair Obsidian Series 650D
Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB
SSD 60GB OCZ Vertex
Samsung F3 1TB
Asus GTX 570 DirectCU II(or other manufacturer, not sure yet) x2 for SLI
Asus Maximus IV Extreme

= £2k

Anything you would change?

Looks good, maybe go for a bigger ssd if you plan on installing lots of games on it.

Also, I've heard the Lycosa has a few problems with reliability so maybe go with another keyboard (although it does look sexy).

I would go for a bigger SSD as has been mentioned. You won't fit much on the 60gb beyond your os and essential apps.
I personally wouldn't bother with 3d, haven't heard many great things about it, and if you ate choosing between that and eyefinity, then eyefinity is a much more tangible improvement.

@titan13131 Yea, I was thinking of getting Asus P67 Sabertooth but maybe in the future I'll add another GTX570 and Maximus IV will be great for tri SLI.

@TheFool

You're right, I'll think about a bigger SSD, maybe 60 for 120 but that's like 2x price :P
Hmm if not Lycosa then TT Esports Challenger Pro maybe? Was using Saitek Cyborg before but it was hard to press keys, didn't like it. Can't see much nice keyboards and don't want to go over £50+

@EdwardTeach

Yeah as I mentioned I'll consider a bigger SSD.
I am sure Eyefinity gives way more fun than 3D but it is too expensive, can't afford that... 3D is cheaper and can't be that bad :)

only things i would change are the ram and the SSD

with the ram, you have no hope of fitting it in beneath the cooler no matter what way round it is. that stuff is rediculously tall. (as has been said in one of the reviews: "wouldnt fit under noctua d14 on an asus p8p67 pro"

I really wouldnt advise doing what the person who wrote the review said and remove the headspreaders on the ram to make it fit

also, go for this SSD: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-009-CR&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=1427

*edit*
if you really are determined to use that ram, prehaps go for the corsair H60 cpu cooler?

That's the thing, the lycosa is the best looking keyboard around but I've read so many negative reviews that it's probably not worth the hassle. Saying that I'll probably get it anyway.

Maybe look at the M$ sidewinder x4/x6, Steelseries Merc stealth (might be good if you play fps), Logitech G110 . . . etc.

@Reaper 392

Even if I'll install Corsair ram into 2nd and 4th slot it won't fit after moving the fan?
Hmm this Crucial SSD, what a monster :O thanks!

@TheFool

M$ sidewinder looks so much plastic :P At the moment I am using cheap £15 Microsoft keyboard and it is really really nice, but I need something to work with at night with leds... I'll see yet, thanks man :)
