Hello, I need to change my desktop next month because of the end of support to windows 7.

And I would like to transfer my bookmarks from the old desktop to new, what is the best way to do this please ?

I use google chrome, but do NOT log in as the google sync system drove me mad when I got my phone and tablet, I don't want links to banking etc to show on my mobile as I only use the desktop for that and a few other things.

And is there any significant difference to these 2 packages. I don't play games.

AMD Ryzen 3 3200G Quad Core 3.6GHz
4GB DDR4 2400MHz Memory
120GB SATA3 Solid State Drive
CIT Classic Micro Case
500 Watt PSU
Asrock / Gigabyte / MSI Motherboard
300Mbps Wireless PCI-E Card

or

Intel G5400 Dual Core 3.3GHz
4GB DDR4 2400MHz Memory
120GB SATA3 Solid State Drive
CIT Classic Micro Case
500 Watt PSU
Asus / Gigabyte / MSI Motherboard
300Mbps Wireless PCI-E Card

I'm currently using about 150gb of hard disk space, which is unlikely to change, so what would I need for this particularly when I keep reading about all the updates to windows etc, I want this desktop to last the distance.

Download the windows 10 installer, run it and choose upgrade ( not clean install ) it will then give you the options to keep all your files and settings.

Once installed, buy a W10 product key and activate.

The specs above are for 2 brand new desktops mate , I could get one of them with a 1Tb of hard disk and pay the extra. I've thought about upgrading my windows 7 but not sure about doing that.

I want to avoid transferring the wrong bank bookmark and one or two others but I'm not worried about any documents, mp3 files etc as everything is backed up. I am surprised that my current desktop has 500gb hard disk space and the new ones have less ? I thought a new one would have more and dont want to be caught short especially as I keep reading that people fill their hard disks with the vast number of big Windows 10 updates.

If you download the windows 10 upgrade assistant, and you already have an activated copy of windows 7, then you'll still get the free upgrade to windows 10.

If you then log into or create a windows account on the upgraded machine, it will then allow you to change hardware.... effectively have win 10 free on the newer machine using your windows account.

What about the hard drive space ?

Get a 240GB SSD if you think 150 - 200GB is your likely storage needs (about £30), or if you want to make sure you've space, up it to a 500GB. For your use/expectations I'd probably stick with 240GB and upgrade capacity if required a year or two down the line. What drakulton said re : upgradfing to win 10

Simple, upgrade the machine you are using now to Windows 10, the upgrade as many other have said will keep all of your files, bookmarks etc, when you build the new machine, simply clone your old hard drive to your new one, you may want to remove old motherboard, GPU, sound drivers etc before you do that, especially if you are going from an Intel to AMD machine for instance to save any conflicts or BSOD's whilst booting, theres tonnes of free software out there to clone your drive, worst case scenario, you will have to install new motherboard drivers etc.

The 2 new machines youve listed above wont run Windows 7 anyway, well not easily and out of the box they wont, there is ways to do it, but its just easier to use 10.

On a slightly different note, I understand you dont play games, but if you go for the 3400G instead, which is only like £35 more, you'll get 4 cores 8 threads and 11 GPU cores instead of 8, also both of those CPU's listed will use system RAM for the graphics side of things, with the cost of DDR4 being so cheap at the moment, you may want to go for 8gb of RAM rather than 4gb.

This is a steal at this price: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...l-channel-kit-grey-tlgd48g2400-my-08g-tg.html
