hi everyone

just finished assembling a new pc .. first time =X .. but it gets as far as the windows loading bar and reboots :/

specs are;

E8400
MSI P35 Diamond
2GB Corsair DDR3
80GB Seagate Baraccuda HD
7900GS
600W PSU

I can look around the bios as much as i like when i reset cmos, cpu is idling @ 30'C, memory voltage is set to 1.5v as needed, BIOS seems to be the latest. Without hard drive or graphics card the machine will sit without resetting ... tried with 1GB ram and same thing. just reboots at the windows loading bar.

Help please =(

Generally speaking it is best to format when changing several parts or the CPU/Mobo so it could well be. You can get away with it sometimes, a lot if your using an uncut down coporate isntall but it will allways run slower. My PC for instance only gets 30-40mb read on my internal HDD's as i really need to format it but i cba since ive got a new one to build lol

I can't even get this far now guys :/

It just reboots after the graphics card bios info etc. and whenever i get into bios to change the boot order, and save it, 3 unsuccessful boots later it just resets back to the default boot order.

*bump* i really don't know what to do :( just tried manually setting cpu vcore to 1.225 and memory to 1.5 but it did nothing.

Have you tried only one stick of RAM at a time just in case you have faulty one.
Just had a look at Overclockers range of Corsair RAM and they recommend 1.8v ~, usualy there is a sticker stating recommmended voltage and timmings.

Are all power supplys connected to the motherboard ie the 4 or 8 pin for the cpu power.

UPDATE!

After talking to a mate on xfire he showed me a thread (can't find url atm) where a guy with exactly the same mobo was having the same problem. The only way he could boot would be to reset cmos, into bios, exit without saving. I did this and was just about able to reformat the hd, upon restarting having copied the fresh files i just get a message about windows can' find the boot disk ... this just gets better and better.

as the mobo was b grade do ocuk have any record of if it was tested and working please?

Don't know if this is related in any way but recently my friends PC broke down, he brought it around for me to fix it. I had similar problems as you describe where it would show the loading bar for literally a fraction of a second than reboot. After everything it turned out the reason it was failing wasn't because of any component of the PC being broken, but simply because the Windows XP CD had become corrupt and was copying over corrupt/incomplete files without indicating any errors. Used his Windows XP CD, used my own and they both failed constantly with this bug. It wasn't until we got a friends 3rd Windows XP CD did it finally install smoothly without a glitch. Just a possibility to consider.
