gonna be ordering a new PC soon, just wondered what u ub3r tech guys think ...
anything need to be changed, downgraded / upgraded ... ?

Aiming for the £1000 but wanna have some leeway in case i need to any extra things later on.

Get the xt not the xt-x, don't bother with the crossfire solution later as you can upgrade to a gtx for the same performance. The price point will be 40% less with the ati xt over a nvidia gtx but clocked will be only 25% slower.

Sell the card later and get a gtx and you will have won on all points when the prices of the gtx reduce.

As for the psu, spend a little more and get yourself something that will last for years to come. The OCZ 700w game extreme is an excellent choice, indestructible and quality parts.

Works out at more or less the same price an extra tenner gets you the Hitachi deskstar 320 gig, so an extra 70 gig for a tenner, not bad.

TBH get the x1950 pro, it will play all the games on highest settings and costs only 130 quid, that way you have more money to spend on other things, or to save towards a dx10 upgrade in the future.

as above dont get the xtx its not worth eirther spend less and get a pro or xt or spend more and get a gts8800

Yes change the mobo to a DS3 then go for a 8800GTS, should come just under 1000.

Otherwise keep current spec and get 1950pro/xt instead.

Looking to OC?? If yes chuck in a Freezer 7 pro as well.

get an s3 and bios flash it to a ds3. same board, different capacitators, so no difference really, and saves you £40??

dont get an xt-x, my HIS xt iceq runs everything thrown at it on max settings perfectly.


and if i were you id get pc5300 crucial 10th anniversary over the geil ram (which i have )
