New PC needed and I have no idea what I am doing.

I have a 8 year old PC purchased from OCUK in 2016. It was one of their cheaper budget pre-built systems (£999).

Here is the spec

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz 3.50 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Nvidia GTX 970

It came overclocked and it has done me proud since day one. However, my lad is turning 8 in a few months and I am thinking of giving him this PC and getting my self a new one. This is where I fall short as I have no idea on what will be regarded as a great upgrade.
I use Photoshop for editing photos and creating board game prototypes, I play Planet zoo/coaster and Cities Skylines. Sometimes I will dabble in GTA5 and the odd strategy game like the Civ games.

I have been on the GPU and CPU comparison sites to check against newer more powerful ones and I always find the GTX 970 is still bang for buck one of the good cards out there. Which is surprising.

Anyway. What system/bundle would you recommend to get me back to to date. Like I say, not a massive gamer or wanting ultra on everything so a budget system would probably still do the trick. Currently my PC cant handle Windows 11 according to the app that checks for you. the CPU isn't supported.

Any more info needed, just let me know.

hi thanks for the reply. I will assume all that is compatible, and not sold as a pre built system, as I have no idea on what will work with what. I checked on the benchmark sites and both the GPU and CPU will give me greater performance which is good for my Photo editing and my limited gaming. Certainly a BIG upgrade to my current system.
