Hi there,

Been out the PC/gaming for a few years and now need to build a new PC. I could currently get a full system around the following for 600:

CPU - Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151
Motherboard - Asus Maximus VIII Ranger Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4
Memory - Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Dual Channel
Graphics Card - Zotac GeForce GTX 1070 AMP Edition 8192MB GDDR5

It will only for stuff like Anno 1800 and Cities Skylines (fully modded) for now and was wondering, for the price, should I look at something else as I see a lot of systems around AMD now (shows how long I've been out the loop haha).

Thanks!

Thanks everyone. The last PC I had myself was the i5 2500k, back when Intel had the market (over 5yrs ago when I sold it). So, I can see that a lot has changed. The full system build does include the whole base unit and thought it was good value for the price (considering the 1070 too), but I guess I was waaay wrong! haha.

I don't have much more in the budget, perhaps stretch to £700 at push.. Is there anything I can get around that or am I better saving for parts on MM and if so, what parts to look out for?

Am I right in thinking that something like Cities Skylines loves a good CPU too?

If you can build it yourself, you can easily get a balanced ryzen 5 2600 with something like a GTX 1660 Super/ RX 5600XT for less than £700. Pre built from proper custom builders, probably more on the £800

Yea, im sure I can still build a PC (he says haha).

In terms of components like CPU/Mobo, what should I be looking out for these days?

I saw that the 1660 S seems to be perform similar to the 1070, so if its cheaper, its a no brainer.

Thanks!

No point in moving from your 1070 to the 1660 Super imo. It's a sideways move at best.

Apologies, I probably confused the matter. I dont actually have any PC at the moment (sold my last one over 5 years ago). I've just seen one around £600 with an I7 6700k and 1070 etc and was wondering if it would be a good buy, especially with changes around AMD and the fact I havent looked at getting a PC for quite a few years haha.
