Having just come into some money, I thought I would try to make stupidly good gaming rig, but I cant quite decide on what's best. This is what I have so far.

I've no budget (for once) so any help to make it better and / or more compatible is appreciated.

Main problem though is no case, I really have no idea whats suitable.

Thanks in advance.

i think many will suggest loosing the QX6850 and jsut getting a Q6600 G0 then overclocking it. besides at current prices you could get 3 q6600 and have change left over rather then one qx6850 then sell the ones that don't overclock well if you want or just get one. however if you got the money to spare and you want a 3 ghz quad without overclocking then by all means get the QX6850 as it is currently the only choice. if on the other hand you are not in a hurry to buy i can suggest waiting for the new cpus and gpus to arrive on the market.

This would be a much better rig:

I didn't include an OS. If you're going to go with Vista I suggest Home Premium.

Advantages over yours:
Much faster GPU setup. Make that much, much, much, much faster. ;)
8 GiB RAM rather than a wimpy two.
Faster secondary hard drives
Better CPU cooler

The CPU is just about the same after 10 minutes worth of overclocking. Why buy all this stuff if not overclocking?
The RaptorX is a waste of money since you can't see the hard disks inside the machine anyway. If I were buying I'd get 2 or 4 250 GiB WD AAKS drives and RAID 0 them. That'd spank a Raptor in terms of transfer speed.

EDIT: As far as cases are concerned I'm quite fond of the Lian-Li V2000. Other favorites would be the Akasa Eclipse 62 or a Silverstone TJ-07 or TJ-09.
