Hi Guys,

Within the next month i wish to get a new rig, for gaming and some video transcoding etc, also want it to last a while (last MOBO/PRO/RAM been ~5 years - with regular GPU upgrades).

Was looking at the New X79 mobos, from ASUS and the SB-E 3930, like the sound of quad channel ram. also getting a 240GB SSD ~£1500 budget (dont need PSU/GPU).

is the 2011 socket here to stay? i have no idea why there was the 1155,1156,1356 (or whatever), is this another stopgap?

ive been reading some bad views about the SB-E, compared to the 2600k etc, and the IB/IB-E is the thing that people really want? when is that out? IS it worth the wait?

This is proposed spec:
Intel Core i7-3930K 3.20GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail
Kingston HyperX 240GB 2.5" SATA-3 Solid State Drive
Asus P9X79 DELUXE Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard
G.Skill RipJawsZ 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C9 2133MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit
Corsair Hydro H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Antec P280 Super Midi Tower Case - Gun Metal Black

As for sockets I've no idea, 2011 is pretty new so it'll be a while before it's gone. Intels been jumping sockets quite a bit since 775.

As for IB apparently it's out in april-ish?

X79 is for real high end stuff but if you're going to be doing a bit of video transcoding then a 2600K/2700K system would still be good at that.
