Hi,

Fresh PC yesterday. Originally loaded up fine, shut down for the night normally.

Powered on today, getting the black screen with white dash on the top left corner. Unplugged all peripherals, checked GPU seating and RAM, powered back on now getting nothing. Just black screens.

Can’t get to BIOS, can’t do anything. Any advice or tips? PC spec below:

Mobo: MSI B650.

GPU: MSI 5070TI

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800x3d

RAM: 2x16gb ddr5

Thanks

Is the windows drive showing up in the BIOS ? Also have you made sure in the Boot section in the BIOS it is the main drive to boot from, as it maybe set to USB drive first and you may have left a USB stick in one of the USB ports and it may think it needs to boot from that.

I can’t get to the BIOS. I just have a black screen. Pressing del or f12 doesn’t do anything. Tried f2 and f11 as well.

Okay so something has happened then, did you build this system ?

Also have you made sure the cables to the screen are connected fine and the monitor is on the right port plugged into ? be it a monitor or tv if you are using one.

Have you also powered the whole system down as a test, I mean unplugging from the wall for 2-3 minutes and holding down the power button to drain any remaining charge.

Do the above first and come back if still same problem. Then the next steps to take.

If still issues, try the following below and while inside the pc make sure all cables and connectors are connected correctly and also make sure graphics card is still sat in the PCI-E slot fine too. Also maybe try reseating the memory too, basically taking them out and place them back in the same slots they were in.

To reset the CMOS on an MSI B650 motherboard, turn off the PC and unplug it. Either short the
JBAT1 pins for 10 seconds using a screwdriver, press the rear I/O "Clear CMOS" button (if equipped), or remove the CR2032 battery for 5 minutes.
This video demonstrates how to clear your CMOS by shorting the JBAT1 pins.

Methods to Reset CMOS on MSI B650:
  • Method 1: JBAT1 Jumper (Most Common)
    • Locate the two pins labeled JBAT1 (usually between the 2nd and 3rd M.2 slots, often under the GPU).
    • With the power off and disconnected, bridge these two pins with a metal screwdriver for 5–10 seconds.
  • Method 2: Remove the Battery
    • Locate the CR2032 CMOS battery.
    • Note that on some B650 models, the battery is tightly secured or partially obstructed by a plastic retainer; you may need to use a small tool to release it.
    • Remove the battery for 1–5 minutes, then reinsert it.
  • Method 3: Rear I/O Button
    • Some higher-end MSI B650 motherboards have a "Clear CMOS" button on the rear I/O panel.
    • Press and hold this button for 5–10 seconds while the system is powered off and unplugged.

Important Notes:
  • Safety: Always unplug the PC and hold the power button for 10–20 seconds to drain residual power before clearing the CMOS.
  • Result: This process resets your BIOS to factory defaults, which is useful for troubleshooting, such as after a failed RAM overclock

Hi mate; thanks for coming back to me.

No this was a prebuilt system from overclockers. Only arrived yesterday.

All monitors checked and plugged in correct, I use triples but for this have just been using one, tried it in both the Gpu and Mobo, no difference in outcome.

Yes tried unplugging, also tried removing the cmos and putting it back and going again, no impact.

Part of me thinks the Mobo is fried, but I’m really not a computer savvy guy when it comes to build or booting these things (hence buying prebuilt lol) so any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

Okay as it is a prebuilt then contact OCUK and get them to sort it out for you if you are not comfortable doing troubleshooting on it. Seems you tried enough stuff there too, just read what I said about correct way to clear the BIOS, its easy enough and the few things I mentioned just to rule out maybe things got moved while delivering it.

Yeah I’ve logged a ticket, hoping they’ll just ask for it back so the experts can take a look and resolve it.

Will try clearing the bios one more time, don’t want to damage anything else though, so not to impact the warranty :) thanks for your help I appreciate it.

My pleasure :D, OCUK will get you up and running again so don't worry.
