I have just purchased the following:

E6600
OCZ 2 x 1GB 8500 1066MHz Reaper HPC Edition
Gigabyte GA N680SLI-DQ6 - N680i cause I want to run Nvidia graphics card and eventually SLi
320MB BFG 8800GTS Mem 1600MHz, GPU 550MHz, 96 Streams - Another to follow eventually
Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache
Samsung 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer SATA Lightscribe ReWriter
750W Xclio 14cm Fan 87%+ Efficiency Quad+12v
Xclio 3060 Midi Tower Black/Silver 36CM Side Fan
LG 22" Widescreen LCD, 1680x1050, 2 ms, 3000:1, 300 cd/m2, Black/Silver

And all that came to £1010.02  :D

So look out to those above, when this eventually arrives my output should jump a little (gotta wait for the MB cause it wasn't in stock at time of order).

No I have music waiting to be converted and my Athlon 64 3200+ just takes to long now :p

Edit: Oh, that and the primary reason that I need more folding power of course :D

In that case you don't need that 22" LCD - best just get the cheapest display and swap that E CPU for one that begins with a Q ;) :D

edit: oh and way to go - I'm not jealous...honest :o

Very nice spec indeed, though I can't disagree with changing that E for a Q. :D

I should also have a new E6600 on it's way soon (that'll make three total).

Not as good spec as that one, but I can't complain as total cost (inc running cost) = gratis. :D

I have a certain Babyface to keep out of my cell so it'll be going on the main account for a little while. Eventually, sure. :)

Yes Sirius this is the upgrade I've been waiting months for... Theres always something better just about to come out :p

I've had the E6600 sitting around at home for ages and the screen was not included in the price as it's not just for the PC it's for the 360 too :)

Oh, and Oi! You dirty bunch of spammers :p

How about this:

It's got a quad core processor, a much better case, a more appropriate power supply, AAKSes in RAID 0 which should be significantly faster than the Raptor you have spec'd, and a SLi mobo. The fact that it's a 650i mobo shouldn't matter as the GTS doesn't take a performance hit when running at 8x in Sli.

It's worth considering for somebody else in this thread is looking for a similar spec. :)

The hard discs sound nice, I have a couple of Raptors and a couple of WD2500YS's, the Raptors are quick but so loud compared to the marginally slower WD2500YS's which are whisper quiet.

Mind you I love watching the little arms of the Raptors moving around, they are synchronised in RAID.

I want a quad too.

Ok I've got one of the older raptors (32mb) but it really quiet in it's diy elastic suspension harness. Can't hear it over the ambers at 7v's.

Spent £1.50 on some wide (1cm) eleastic and a hour of my time to remove and remount my two HHD in separate harness. Helps with the cooling too :D

Photo's on request ;)

Edit: abit like this but with flat elestic
