Hi all,

Ive just built a new Pc, specs are:

Intel Core 2 Duo Quad Qx6700
Dual BFG Geforce 8800 GTX
BFG NForce 680i Motherboard.
2GB Corsair XMS Dominator PC2-6400
Ageia Physx Card

I was thinking of overclocking the CPU, but am fairly new to it, I did buy a Titan Amanda TTC-NP04TZ CPU fan, but I do not have any free pci slots for the fan controller :-(

I guess what I am trying to say, is what would you recommend for a decent CPU fan that allows overclocking, but does not require a PCI slot?

Also I would be interested to hear about your experiences in overclocking a system similar to mine?

Thanks in advance.

Tuniq Tower is the best around at the moment, go for that.

As for overclocking your CPU, you should be able to get around ~3Ghz.

It does not need a pci slot, but it does have a manual fan controller which has a PCI backplate. Its just a rheostat.

EDIT: Just noticed you have a physix card. Do you REALLY need it with dual 8800s?

doesnt your titan have an option to put the fan controller in a floppy 3.5" drive bay??

the titan vanessa-l does. its better than the amanda, the only reason buy the amanda is because is supports AM2 aswell, this is the only socket the vanessa-l cant.

i had the vanessa-l until last week when i got watercooling. i got 3.65ghz on air @ 69c with 1.53v with my e6400. its a VERY good cooler, better than tuniq tower 120 in tests i saw on a website.

I really dont knoiw :-) I was just bying the components, and it seemed like a good Idea at the time. Ill go an buy that other fan, see how I get on. I have idle temps of 53 degrees, is that normal for a Quad core? At the moment, I am using the stock intel fan.

Why not just go Custom watercooling?? ;)
