just put a pc together for my gf and when i press the power button nothing happens

mobo, cpu, mem are all brand new.

the light on the mobo is on so its getting power

the psu works as ive 'hotwired' it and its fine.

only 2 wires i have pluged in are the 4pin and the 24 pin and nothing happens.

ive even checked the button wireing and its fine, ive tried crossing the power button pins with a coin and nothing happens either.

spec is asus p5n-d
e4600
corsair twinx 6400 2gb

help!

only 2 wires i have pluged in are the 4pin and the 24 pin and nothing happens.

I may just be too anal here but have you plugged a cable into your graphics card (if it requires one that is).

Oh and you don't belong to the "I bolted my mobo straight to the case" club do you? ;)

Hmm got the power button connected to the mobo the right way (I missed and plugged them into wrong pins a few times myself with my sausage fingers)?

yes ive tried it with the block thing the give you both ways and without it both ways and even a coin accross the 2 pins aswel

is it possible one of the wires in the 4 pin or 24 pin could be damaged that causes it not to work, but to work when its hotwired?

sounds like a short somewhere, make sure the standoffs are screwed in properly at the right places and the mobo is not at any point connecting with the case.

well i just tried my psu in it and it looks like the 4pin wire is damaged in the other one because it works fine with mine. more money to spend :/

whats the minimum power to run:
