Intel D955XBK
Pentium D 820 2.8Ghz
Hiper 580W PSU
OCZ Gold XTC 2x512MB 677Mhz
Geforce 7800 GT
Antec Sonata II Case
WD 250Gig 16MB Cache
Temperatures 42Idle, 50-55 ingame.
(No overclocking to memory voltages, cpu etc)
So heres my problem, I couldn't get this PC to work for a while and found out one of my memory sticks (corsair at the time) was damaged.. So i got the computer working in the one slot (slot1) and turned off my PC to go sleep. The PC turned on by itself! (wakeonlan disabled) and no signal display.
At this point i thought it was a memory issue again, so i bought new OCZ memory and tried that, still was not working. Then i tried putting it in Slots 2 + 4 and success it worked. 2 Days later, i kept getting reboots.. and then it just went to no signal display again and it would only work in memory slot 3 now.. and now thats slots dead to
.
So now, i know the motherboard is a deadbeat and I want to buy a newer motherboard for a cheaper option, I was thinking AS Rock Conroe 945?
Another thing, would i need to buy new memory or is it just the motherboard causing the problems? Can putting this memory in a new motherboard damage it?
What caused this problem in the whole place? dodgy motherboard or random power surge? (was late at night no thunder etc)
Thanks for your help, i have been a big fan of this site and it is my first post i appreciate it.
Edit: What type of voltage should this memory be running at, it was running at 2.8V i think, i did not touch change it though.
