New PC PSU issue?

I have built a new comp for myself (see signature) which runs great.

Only thing I have noticed is when I turn on the computer the CPU fan will spin fine through gfx intensive games. Soon as I quit out of the game the fan will stop then spin for a second then stop again (this lasts for 5 mins). Then it will stop moving until I restart computer. I am using an old (5years) seasonic psu from my last computer.

I have plugged the CPU fan into various slots on mobo with no change so I thought it might be the fan itself OR the old PSU.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

try increasing the fan start voltage in the BIOS. it looks like its not getting enough juice

I had a look in bios but could not see a fan voltage option.

I know seasonic is a good brand but if I had a 5 year psu powering an i5 + 580 I would get a new one soon.

Is 650w enough for my system? especially if I decide to get another gfx card down the line?

For whats in your sig its fine.

To add another GTX580 then you want a 850W+ PSU.

Right... So I bought a new PSU 750w and still not working right. I have also updated the mobo driver as there was a new one released.

The CPU fan will spin on boot and while I play a game but will will stop either when I stop playing the game (BF BC2 at the mo) Looks like some sort of smart controller (thats not so smart)
The fan sometines does what I have shown in first post while playing a game too and may even stop at times)

At first I was going to return the cooler but I am not so sure that is the issue. Any suggestions for further testing?
