hi my main 1st choice is corsair rm850x but it only has 3 pcies and i prefer to have 4, the be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 850W is supposed to have 4 but cannot really understand how the cabling works on this psu it has sockets on the back of the psu that have an 8 pin mb and 2x8 pin p8 and then 2 x8pin pcie but the psu supports 4 pcies. not sure if its 2 cables with 2 connector each or not, just a bit confused really. has anybody got any experience of this psu. by the way i need 3 pcies for the gpu and 1 extra for the possibility of needing it for the extra pcie slot on the msi motherboard that some people say is not needed and other people say it is.

The Be Quiet has a pair of pci-e cables each with two daisy chained 6+2 pin connectors on them. The new Corsair RM850x has three seperate single 6+2 pin pci-e connectors. The Corsair has the better set up but I don't trust the new version as early on there were a lot of failures. Hopefully it was a bad batch and is now sorted but personally I wouldn't take the chance. I wouldn't go with the Be Quiet either. I had one a couple of years ago and the single row sockets on the psu for the sata/molex cables never felt secure to me, it was like they weren't plugged in properly although they were in as far as they would go and locked by the tab on the connector. They still use the same connectors so that's enough for me to say no plus only having a pair of daisy chained pci-e connectors as well. I would take three seperate 6+2 pin pci-e cables over a pair of cables with daisy chained connectors anyday and you are unlikely to need more than three connectors anyway because if a gpu needs more power it will just use the horrible 16 pin cable.

The Phanteks AMP GH 850w has three seperate single 6+2 pin pci-e cables and is a decent psu, compact too.
The Superflower Leadex Gold III UP 850w also has three seperate 6+2 pin pci-e cables and is also very decent.
If you want one of the best 850w psu's around take a look at the Platinum rated Antec HCG 850 Pro. This is built by Seasonic and based on the latest version of their own Vertex PX series albeit with a 10 year instead of 12 year warranty but don't be put off by that as it's a very high end psu. As a bonus it's cables are individually braided and look great. It also has three seperate 6+2 pin pci-e cables.

That is about the best you are going to get with pci-e cables now unless you go for a huge capacity psu although many of those are now coming with a pair of the awful new cables at the cost of less pci-e cables.
