new pc questions?

thinking of ordering new pc today but got things on my mind ..

should i go for 1x Geforce 8800GTX 786mb or got SLI 2x Geforce 8800 GTS 320mb?

whats peoples experience with SLI? as i wanna try it and now got a chance to go for it. looking to play up coming games like Unreal Tournament 3 (2007) and etc games on MAX hence why i m set on getting a Quad 2 Core 6600

1 x GTX for definite. You are limiting yourself with the GTS 320. Even in SLI, it will struggle at the higher resolutions. Also, not all games scale well with SLI.

What res are you going to be using? You may only need 1 x GTS...

i have a Dell 20.1" TFT 2005FPW 1680x1050 res

probably a 640mb gts for that res. maybe a GTX if you really want to, but i got a gts for that res, and it doesnt struggle with anything at all. price is fairly low now

Agreed, GTS 640MB should be enough. Tbh, that card could handle 1920 x 1200 as well.

always get the best single card you can afford. Bear in mind that not all games support SLi and performance does not automatically double. Go for one card and you can always get another later (though you probably won't as something else will have come out that's tons better).
