Ok so I've just started my new PC up and gone through the BIOS (set time etc) I haven't really changed much..

Anyway I then put in my Windows 7 disk and when my machine restarted and I was shown a screen saying:

Select a boot first device
Hard drive (with a + in front of it)
cdrom
usb-fdd

etc etc

I went down and selected cdrom but then I just get a blacck screen with white dots going across..

I'm a newb at this..

Please help!

Thanks

if you boot the pc can you get back into bios ok ?, if you can then use the option to set defaults and save that.

if you don't have an o/s installed you should be ok to load the cd and it should pick it up after checking the hard drive.

alos, might be worth posting up a list of all your kit, processor/mobo/graphics card/psu etc

What happens when the white dots dissapear? Did you not get "loading windows file?"

Boot from your optical drive and make sure the Windows disc is in. It's then a matter of following the instructions. Pretty simple really... it's all ticky boxes and drop down stuff.

Make sure you set your drive to "AHCI" in the BIOS.

They don't dissapear... They just slowly go across the screen... I'm not sure how long I should let those white dots go along the screen for now :|

I am trying to boot from my optical drive and then it asks where it want to boot from.. If I select HDD it gives me a list of the HDDs in the machine, but doesn't show the DVD drive when I select CDROM, even though the PC is seeing the optical drive on the POST.
