New PC stuck in restart loop

Hi all,

I've just been building my PC and everything is now in, however whenever I turn it on it starts up and runs for a few seconds then restarts itself constantly.

This is with one stick of RAM in the second slot, originally I had two sticks in and it refused to turn on at all. Similarly if I try the RAM in slot 1 or 3 (I can't get to 4 thanks to the CPU heat sink) it doesn't turn on.

I've checked through all the cables and it looks like it's all in correctly, can anyone give me some tips as to what I might have done wrong?

Try clearing the CMOS?

If I've done it right, which is questionable as I didn't understand the motherboard instructions on it at first, then that's not done anything

Whats the full specs?

The usual thing people do is forget to plug the extra 8pin power into the board.

I'm pretty sure I've got that plugged in, went through a checklist and that was one of the first things on it

Take the gfx card out and disconnect the drives and see if it boots then.

Try a single RAM stick.

CPU power cable definitely plugged in? it will loop like you said if it isn't.

I've just taken out the graphics card and disconnected all my drives, I only had one stick in as it was, but it's still doing the same thing

Is that the 8 pin connector above the CPU? If so then that is definitely connected

Did you plug the 8 pin in after you fitted the HSF? If so it might not be fully inserted.

I did yeah. I've just taken them out (as its 2x 4 pin) and put them back in. They're definitely in as I heard them click. No luck unfortunately.

One thing I've used in the past the the beeps that tell you what error it's having, but i don't know if the motherboard I've got comes with it, as I've not been hearing anything and the manual for it makes no mention of it.

Build it outside of the case.

From what I can see, all the lights on the motherboard, Graphics Card, PSU, and case fans are lighting up. Fans are also coming on for the case, CPU cooler, and Graphics card. So it all looks like it's going to work fine, then it just reboots.

Either something (power) is still not connected right or RAM is faulty (try all the slots with one stick) or the CPU has bent socket pins or the board is faulty.

It looks like it was actually a faulty bit of RAM. I switched the sticks I was using, even though I thought I'd already tried the other one, and it's not running

Bit of pain that it's not working, but I'm very thankful it isn't something else

The memory might just need setting up in the BIOS TBH.

Try the other pair of slots (they are colored in pairs).

Then if that doesnt help, try updating the BIOS as the list of fixes from BIOS to BIOS mentions RAM compatibility improvements.

I've just tried the pair of slots again and this time it's worked, not sure why it didn't last time but I'm just happy it is
