Q6600 will severely CPU limit your 4870. Go for a higher-clocked dual core like the 8400. The monitor is hideously overpriced - go for a cheaper 24" or 22" (like http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...Widescreen True HD LCD Monitor - Glossy Black). Go for a P45/nForce 750 chipset on your motherboard for the best overclocking.

I'm getting slightly cheesed off with everybody buying a Q6600, as their overclocking is not a set standard (it varies from chip to chip) but that's just me. ;)

If you CAN overclock that Q6600 to 3GHz per core, then fair enough, but seeing as you can overclock an E8500 to 4.0GHz (apparently) I'd say go for that.

Personally i would go for a E8400/8500 for a gaming machine. They will happily hit 4Ghz and be a hell of a lot cooler than a Q6600, especially if it's clocked.

Ditch the P35 board for a P45 board as well. The P5Q is cheaper than the old P5K or the P5Q Pro is £7 more expensive.
