Hey guys for some strange reason my pc keeps randomly BSOD :(. I have no idea why it keeps doing this but i do notice sometimes when it restarts its self again it will only show 2gb of ram yet it have 4? Then i restart it and it will show the full amount. The motherboard is by MSI and im having some pretty bad times using this crappy driver updater as it will allow me to download the driver but i can't seem to open it/install it. My spec's are below and it has either frozen/bsod twice since i started this post. D:

Also can anyone recommend any good driver updater programs that are free?

MSI 870A-G54 AMD 870 (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard

OCZ ZS Series 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply [OCZ-ZS550W-EU]

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache - OEM (ST31000524AS) [ST31000524AS]

Corsair A50 High-Performance CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) [CAFA50]

XFX ATI Radeon HD 6850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE MOH, Deus Ex & Stalker Games [HD-685X-ZNFE]

AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1090T Black Edition 3.20GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail [HDT90ZFBGRBOX]

Thanks in advance :D

Ok, not going to be a easy one!!

I assume your running at stock and memory voltage is correct in the BIOS.

Run Prime 95 and see what happens in windows, it may point to other issues which could be tricky to test individually without testing in another system, i.e. PSU or CPU.

Ahh damn haha ahh well all good experience :D

Ok i will download that and let it do its business then report back. Thanks again for the help :D

Ok so I downloaded prime 95 started it up and almost instantly it bsod I managed to get a pic of the error code but when ever I turn on the pc and open firefox or anything it crashes straight away :/

Not good :(

Can you try doing Prime again but remove one memory module, my system had issues a few years ago that turned out to be the second set of ram was faulty, but men test did not show up any errors!

Looks like a number of potential problems.

Firstly, driver updating software. Don't use anything that offers to update all your drivers for you - always get the driver direct from the manufacturer's site (unless you're very confident of the source).

First off, check your memory is seated properly. That's often the root cause if it's not being detected properly. Did you build the rig yourself? If so, check that all the components are properly seated, all the cables of connected and your cpu cooler is making contact with the CPU.

Next step would be to reset the bios, and possibly flash it.

Hey guys, im at work at the moment so i can't upload the BSOD and i cant do it at home as my wifi keeps dropping out D: here is the error code:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I'm guessing its a driver error? or will every bsod say that? Also the driver download for msi is pretty naf the "Live update" lets me download the driver but not open/install the damn thing haha. Is the bsod related to a driver update?

Ok after a long time i was able to flash the bios with the most up to date version. So far its ok but it has only been running less than 5 minutes. I will run prime95 and see if the pc will bsod again. Apparently the most recent version of the bios includes better memory options and works with more types. :D

Alright guys, ok im back to square one.... i flashed the BIOS and it ran fine for about 24 hours now it is starying to mess about again. It keeps BSOD and im getting no ideas why :( im going to take everything out and reseat it all again and see if that helps or not. Anyone got any ideas what to try next?

Sounds like a rubbish driver, are you using a Belkin wifi adapter? Long shot but I know a few people who used them and they caused major problems on their PCs. It could be that your heatsink/fan is not installed correctly, although if temps are okay (you can check in the bios) then it shouldn't be an issue.

What memory are you running?

What happens when you only run one memory module and try both but at a lower speed if possible.

Can try another install on a spare hard drive to rule out possible software issues.

You didn't run memtest for very long tbh, I'd leave it running overnight as it doesn't always pick up any errors with just one pass.

This is very odd. I ran memtest 10 times and every test was successful. It has been fine all today but i dont think it will be long before it does it again?
